Rise of the Twelve
Ussuran Tea Merchant
Svetlana’s Seventh Sea
My name is Svetlana Katya Ivanovna, of the well-known tea merchant family Ivanovna, of central Ussura. I am my parents’ eldest child, and as such, have been groomed to assume control of our family’s tea trading business. But in the meanwhile, I am free to travel, and serve the Matushka in whatever capacity she calls me. She has been most generous in her gifts to me, and I pray that my service is pleasing to her.
I was trained, from girlhood, in the ways and secrets of The Daughters of Sophia, as much as was allowed, and when I came of age, I joined their society willingly. I am committed to furthering the mission of the Daughters, and of giving aid to women in need, wherever I find them.
I am told, by those who may judge by appearances alone, that I am spoiled, and it is true, I do enjoy the finer things in life; the well-set table, a spirited horse to ride, beautiful clothes, and my soft leather boots. But I am also resourceful, and hardy, as befits one of my nationality, I am never without my samovar, brazier, and tea set, and I am able to provide hospitality in even the harshest of conditions. Such niceties should not be discounted, particularly when one is far from the comforts of home. I do enjoy a party from time to time, and dancing and flirtation, though I am careful to keep my wits about me.
I am known to be able to hold my own in a fight, and am not afraid, should the need arise, to set fire to obstacles to gain an advantage. I can throw a knife reasonably well, and have been taught to use a rapier in combat. I am also useful in surveillance, as the Matushka has blessed me with the gift of pyeryem, and I can fly in the form of an eagle.
